Words are so powerful…

Awaken

Have you ever taken a yoga class and your teacher ends savasana or closes class with a quote, short poem or excerpt that left you feeling connected to your true self? Or perhaps just made you self-reflect a little deeper, more than you expected to? It can be as simple as a sentence or a couple of paragraphs from a book you’re reading. By sharing things that resonate with us as teachers creates the space in our students to dig a little deeper into self-reflection. In this blog post we share a few quotes and excerpts that make us feel all the feels.

Belonging so fully to yourself that you’re willing to stand alone is a wilderness — an untamed, unpredictable place of solitude and searching. It is a place as dangerous as it is breathtaking, a place as sought after as it is feared. The wilderness can often feel unholy because we can’t control it, or what people think about our choice of whether to venture into that vastness or not. But it turns out to be the place of true belonging, and it’s the bravest and most sacred place you will ever stand. ~ Brene Brown

“The inspiration you seek is already within you. Be silent and listen.” ~ Rumi

“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ~ Rumi

“Let me tell you the tale of one whom didn’t stop. Who climbed every mountain without a pause on top. Who danced until each blade of grass was clothed in drops of dew. Who the sun knew by name and the silver moon did too.

For a fear had settled in her bones; the fear of sitting still. That if you’re not moving forward it must mean you never will. So, in time the dance got slower. And she looked at all she’d seen but found gaps in places she’d never fully been. For she was a human doing, human moving, human seeing. But she’d never taken the time to simply be a human being.” ~ Unknown

“It takes a certain level of commitment to practice to expand your capacity in order to receive the gifts, energy and love of other people.”

“If you find yourself asking questions. Remind yourself, we have all the answers within us we just need to create the space to listen.”

“While you are waiting for those certain things to happen, I hope you know there are still books to read. There are still people worth getting to know and there are still really good songs to sing. And these little things might not ‘fix’ everything, but they will surely remind the soul, though the journey is long and winding, there is a life to be lived on the road. “ ~ Morgan Harper Nichols

“Thank your past versions for guiding you to who you are today.”

“We often find ourselves asking, ‘how do I know this is the experience I need?’ When really the answer is quite simple: because this is the experience you are having at this moment.”

“As uncomfortable as growth may be squeezing into spaces you’ve outgrown is even more uncomfortable.”

“Even if you are still trying to carve things out, even without the clarity you thought you would have by now, may you know without a doubt this is a lifelong journey you have been called to, and no matter the time has passed, it is not too late for you. it is not too late for you, there is so much more this this life, and the journey you have been called to.” ~ Morgan Harper Nichols
