who also passed on some plant-based cooking tips to Schwarzenegger’s personal chef.

Sarno was invited to cook a vegan dinner for the seven-time Mr. Olympia and former Mr. Universe as well as train his personal chef in cooking more plant-based meals for him in the future. “Such an honor to cook for this legend,” Sarno told LIVEKINDLY. “When powerhouse influential superheroes like Arnold take a stance and want to diversify their protein with plants, we know times are changing. With these influences, we bring plant-based diets into the mainstream conversation.”

In addition to co-founding vegan seafood brand Good Catch Foods and serving as the former Global RnD Chef for Whole Foods Market, Sarno co-founded Wicked Healthy with his brother Derek, who now serves as Director of Plant-Based Innovation for the UK’s largest supermarket chain, Tesco.

Sarno told LIVEKINDLY that he shared some of his favorite brands on the market with Schwarzenegger’s classically trained chef to help Schwarzenegger incorporate more vegan food into his diet. The former California governor was a big fan of Good Catch Foods’ crabless crab cakes, which will be on the market next spring.

‘The Game Changers’

Schwarzenegger is known for his muscular physique which led him to his iconic role in the Academy Award-winning director James Cameron’s 1984 sci-fi action film “The Terminator.” But these days he’s no longer eating meat, teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg is his hero, and he appears in Cameron’s upcoming documentary about vegan athletes, “The Game Changers.”

The film’s trailer shows Schwarzenegger talking about the widely perpetuated myth that athletes need meat to be at the top of their game — a theme that the film explores in depth. “They showed us a lot of commercials, selling us the idea that real men eat meat. But you’ve got to understand: that’s marketing. That’s not based on reality,” he explains in the trailer.

After watching the final cut of “The Game Changers,” which arrives in theaters this fall, Schwarzenegger offered to become one of the film’s executive producers. Other producers include five-time vegan Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, action star Jackie Chan, former Tennessee Titans linebacker Derrick Morgan, and 2019’s Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic.

“You have to start slowly, you can’t just convince people to stop eating meat altogether,”Schwarzenegger continued. “It’s a very big challenge, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done and you shouldn’t be on that campaign, but it’s a very hard thing to overcome.”

“The Game Changers” premiers in more than 1,500 theaters across 30 countries on September 16.
