During the rainy season, huge waves dwarf Laotian fisherman Samnieng as he uses a homemade high-wire bridge to cross over the dangerous waters of the turbulent Mekong River in Champasak province, Laos.

Footbridges and pathways in many remote parts of the world consist of rope and boards ― and, in lucky situations, some railings too. In some instances, there is very little between an explorer and a deep chasm, leaving the individual with some precarious choices to make. Check out the adrenaline-inducing images below.
