Ed and Deb Shapiro
Ed & Deb Shapiro are a joyful and inspirational couple who recognize the inherent goodness of all beings, bringing upliftment, wisdom and compassion to the journey we all are traveling. They are the authors of eighteen books on personal development, meditation and social action, many published in over seventeen languages. Their latest book won the Nautilus Gold Book Award: Be The Change, How Meditation Can Transform You and The World, with forewords by the Dalai Lama and Prof Robert Thurman. It is a call to action, filled with the personal accounts from world-renown luminaries on how meditation has positively impacted their lives.
Ed & Deb have led meditation retreats and personal development programs worldwide for over 25 years; are featured columnists on HuffingtonPost.com and Oprah.com; and they are corporate consultants and personal coaches who have worked with CEO’s and senior management internationally.
Ed was born in the Bronx, New York, where he won the New York City dance championships. He was initiated as Swami Brahmananda in India. After returning to the US he has been teaching Mindfulness Meditation and Inner Conscious Relaxation (ICR). He is a respected meditation teacher who is sought after for his compassionate understanding of the human condition.
Deb was born in England and grew up in London. She is a leading authority and highly respected for her intuitive understanding of the bodymind relationship. Her book, Your Body Speaks Your Mind, won the 2007 Visionary Book Award, and is published in 18 languages. She became a meditator at the age of 15, and founded the Maitreya Institute in Hawaii for His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche. She has been teaching bodymind awareness and meditation for over 25 years.
